DIRECTOR
Dave Kinsey, the owner and director of Veritas, graduated from
Bryan College (BA in Bible, 1973) and Reformed Theological Seminary
(MA in School Administration, 1988). He has almost 30 years of
experience as an educator, with 23 of those years in school
administration. As a teacher, he taught 6th – 10th grade level math
courses, Spanish and history. He also coached basketball for several
years early in his career. Mr. Kinsey has served as an administrator
at three different Christian schools in the Atlanta and St. Louis
areas. He served for 15 years as the Headmaster at Fellowship
Christian Academy in Roswell. During his years at FCA, the school
grew from a student body of 160 students to over 600 in the K – 12
program. He was also instrumental in the formation of the school at
Perimeter Church in Duluth and has always been a strong supporter of
the homeschool movement. He believes that his role as an educator is
to partner with parents in providing the best possible education for
their children.
GRADES 1-2
Kay Wagner earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Winthrop University. She has taught elementary school for 17 years and was a stay at home mom in the middle of her teaching career. She taught second grade for eight years at Fellowship Christian School. Kay and her husband reside in Lawrenceville and are both active in their church, Crabapple First Baptist Church. They have two grown sons.
GRADES 3-4
Amy Davis is a native Atlantan who grew up in Duluth. Amy went to the University of Georgia where she received a degree in Early Childhood Education. She taught in Forsyth County and then at Intown Community School. After her daughter was born, she stopped teaching full time but served as a Mentor to the new teachers for two more years. Amy taught at a Co-op with the CHEER organization last fall. Amy lives in Duluth with her husband Hinton. They have two children - Ansley and Trey. They are members of Perimeter Church.
GRADES 5-6
Melissa Hornsby earned her degree at Berry College in Rome, Georgia
where she majored in History and minored in Secondary Education. After
graduation she taught seventh through twelfth grade history at Masters
Christian Academy for two years. She moved to Providence Christian Academy
(PCA) where she taught eighth grade Georgia History and ninth grade
Civics/Government and World Geography for three years. She left PCA to be a
full-time mom to her firstborn. Later that year she started a theatre company
for kids where she taught drama and improvisation classes for children ages
eight through twelve. Melissa wrote and directed seven plays over the next four
years.
Melissa attended attended DeKalb Christian Academy from the eighth through the
eleventh grades. She attended Providence Christian Academy her senior year and
graduated in its very first graduating class. Melissa tutors the 5/6 grade
Humanities studies at Veritas Classical School’s Sugarloaf Campus. She is
married to David and is mom to their daughters, Makayla and Lila.
GRADES 7-12
Sondra Sparks received her BA degree in Drama from the University of
California at San Bernardino. She also received her Master of Arts in Education
from Oglethorpe University, Atlanta. For the past twelve years, Sondra has
taught sixth-eighth grades at Perimeter Christian School in Duluth, Georgia.
For the past seven years, she has primarily taught English at Perimeter. Sondra
also has nine years of teaching experience in California where she taught high
school drama and speech, and all subjects in sixth grade. She comes to Veritas
with a total of twenty-one years of teaching experience and a love for teaching
students how to write and appreciate literature. Sondra’s husband Terry is Vice
President of International at Walk Thru the Bible. He travels frequently
worldwide, and occasionally Sondra travels with him. They both have a love for
missions having also served on Campus Crusade for Christ for eighteen years.
They attend Genesis Bible Church in Dunwoody and also live in Dunwoody. Both
Terry and Sondra are involved in leading a home fellowship as well as Bible
study. Sondra has also been involved in the women’s ministry. Terry and Sondra
have three daughters and two grandsons.
Chad Bennett is a native of Griffin, Georgia and a 2003 graduate of
Berry College where he majored in Religion and Philosophy with a minor in
Psychology. While at Berry, Chad served on the leadership teams for both Campus
Outreach and the Berry College Republicans. An avid reader, Chad has a great
interest in classical literature, theology, and golf. Chad is an active member
of Trinity Reformed Baptist Church. After teaching with Veritas, Chad plans to
attend Westminster Seminary to prepare for a career in missions.
Kathy Dietz teaches 7th-8th grade History at Veritas this year, her fifth year of teaching at the school. Kathy graduated Summa Cum Laude from Mercer University in Atlanta with a B.A. in English Education and taught 8th-10th grade English at
Mount Vernon Christian Academy in Atlanta for five years. She home schooled both of her sons through high school (with much help and support from Veritas), and they are both now in college.
Kathy’s older son was a student in the very first Veritas class ten years ago. Kathy served on the board of the Perimeter Christian School Homeschool Satellite Program for two years, assisting Carol Dolan with interviewing, setting guidelines, and planning events.
Kathy and her husband, Michael, served on the Veritas board for three years. The Dietz family has lived in Duluth for the past twenty-two years, and they are members of Sugarloaf Community Church, where Kathy works with the youth and teaches a High School Girls’ Sunday school class.
Their family also hosts a weekly Bible study for high school juniors and seniors in their home. Kathy genuinely loves young people and enjoys spending time with them.
One of her greatest passions is challenging the next generation to be Christian thinkers who can clearly and intelligently articulate their faith to a lost world.
MATH
Susan Gray is a graduate of Auburn University with a degree in secondary
math education. She taught 7th grade math at Harris County Middle School for
one year, Algebra I at Norcross High School for two years, and Geometry for two
years at Dacula High School. She also taught Algebra I and II at The Maxwell
House (a home school cooperative). Susan has tutored for several years and has
also worked as a youth minister. She is presently working with the college and
singles group at her church. Married to Jeff for 15 years, Susan has 3 boys-
Hudson, Will, and Anderson.
